Accent Wall Painting Tips
The traditional brown paper bags grew up with can be used in a number of ways to create stunning wall treatments. We will talk about two different uses for brown paper bags and paint.
The first option is to use them as wallpaper. First, you take the brown bags (or you can buy rolls of brown paper), tear size in different shapes and offending. Keep a few with straight edges to the ceiling, anywhere that might need a straight edge.
Use wallpaper paste and adhering the pulp (or wall, or both) and randomly apply each piece to the slightly overlapping the wall. Do not try to straighten too; you want to give a wrinkled look of the texture of the wall. After it has dried, it is now time to have fun, it is time to paint. You can paint it with one color; or do any kind of faux painting. You have a large canvas with crumpled as textured canvas for your painting.
My suggestion to improve the look, after you have finished painting the wall always use either a metallic paint, dark paint color, or lighter color of paint. Any color is a contrast to the main color painted. Go slightly rubbing on the wall on the color contrast; less is more you only want to highlight the texture created by the paper
The next time you use brown paper bag is similar but different.
This time paint the bag before tearing it. With this technique, the use of regular and metallic paint gives a wonderful contrast. Want to mix colors; the main goal here is unexpected color combinations and covering the whole paper. When finished painting and it has dried, start tearing and crumpling like the other technique. Follow the remaining directions to apply. Similar, but this will give you a slightly different look.
What about using a comb on your walls? This is very easy and fun. It requires a base layer of color. In the base layer, you apply an accent color. Keep in mind when you are done, you will see the base color slightly under the paint layer. Be sure to add paint-to-paint extender. You want the paint to remain moist longer and have a more transparent look.
Working in about 12 "wide floor to ceiling segments. Apply the top coat accent with a roller, take your comb (this works best with a large comb all the teeth are evenly spaced), the ceiling start to put your comb teeth on the wall and just shoot down all the way to the floor without stopping. This will leave thin lines that show the base color underneath. Repeat the process, when you get to the edge of another roll top layer paint layer and repeat. Always wipe off the comb after each line. This gives a textured look with a surprise of the base layer showing through.
